about

After five years living money free I dedicate my time to workshops to achieve autarky and practical post scarcity.
Currently I build biomeiler (chip piles) for heating and develop small scale digestion systems usable in flats or gardens to produce methane for cooking, heating and electricity. Additionally I am contributing to classes on thepublicschool.org like self-sufficiency & off the grid living and open source hardware & permaculture.

If you have questions or feel to support the process don't hesitate to drop me a message or contact me securely.

La otra vida de Catalunya

he visitado Lucas Murphy en su casa por construir un "Biomeiler" (en ingles). mas despues.

Vivir la utopia (en aleman is another impressing movie about the self organization during the 1930s around barcelona during the civil war and the beginning of the 20th century.

Read also about the current situation of the indignadas movement which occupied multiple popular places around spain during 2011 as a result of unemployment during ecomic crisis.

Hay unas casas okupas con huertos cuidados por l@s habitantes:

The squat "Can Masdeu" (un okupa ecologica y radical , wikipedia, mapa, google) which is shown on the picure in this article is one of the biggest self organized places around barcelona and exists for 10 years already. Every thursday they meet for community gardening which one can see as their valley is quite impressive and versatile. Different groups maintain small parcells separated by bamboo sticks and organic fences.

Can Pascual (images de 2003, mapa - para visitarlo sigue las zanahorias) in the forest hills near Las Planes in the north is also big regarding gardening. They have two horses, a biogas foil tube out of function and the plan is to build up a yurt there. I visitted them to have a look and take photos at their public cinema day. Unfortunately I arrived there at dawn and they sent me away after the movie.

Can BEE (mapa, openstreetmap) i did not manage because of bad timing and weather - la proxima vez.

Caught in the money trap? Break free by joining the Community Exchange System

Via intercanvis.net people share goods and services locally. The ecoseny is community driven regional currency as an alternative to existing social banks like Fiare. Enric Duran did play another game with banks: He got arrested as he fooled them for about half a million which he transferred to social movements and squatted houses in Barcelona.

grow your food

My first contact with urban farming and "Rooftop Remidies" at CasaRobino some years ago in Amsterdam as an approach to Nowtopia to achieve green cities and to fix the world (all links from their work in progress publication page sharewiki.org as part of an open knowledge wiki series: trashwiki.org hitchwiki.org healthywiki.org) was continued in 2010.

A fresh group started with a permaculture skillsharing camp at the Traumschule/Altmark, followed by the 2nd hedonist worldcongress in June 2011.

Some days ago I arrived in Munich and did a research for a working foodcoop. Without success. I found an old entry, a howto, the offer for a vegi abo, lots of news by so called LOHAS and a bio discount that does not exist anymore.

Yesterday an often inspiring friend taking part at the World Peace Game aiming a moneyless world sent me the message "Friends who I know from muCCC have started this project recently: sharefoodforest.org ("a global network of food based on the idea that each person has the right to free access to healthy food" ). It shows a map which pointed me to o-pflanzt-is , a new permaculture group that recently found a place near the center of Munich. I called them and had a intense link sharing including grünanteil (whith the aim to make gardening activities in towns visible) and mundraub (where to find public fruit trees). The current plan to have a dry toilet is quite a challenge in bavaria, however I wish you the best with it!

Self Sufficiency

Wanna dig deeper? I'd love to invite You to a class about self-sufficiency & off the grid living, applying the openfarmtech principles: neither reducing it to "perma-culture" nor denying reasonable automation. The following quotes and links also should give a good start.

Tiny farming: Grow your own

"Yes I know and I don't think that it's the only solution. Doing a range of things yourself and then having an active role in your local community where you can provide a service, or trade produce is probably the best thing you can do. I don't believe self sufficiency at the family level is viable."

"If part of your approach is going to involve Permaculture (which I think is valid in an attempt at some sort of self management) then obviously Mollinson's books are highly relevant."

"John Seymour [PDF] was our family bible. (At least initially - we outgrew him after a few years, in terms of local knowledge)"

"It's a lot more work than it looks. My family was successful for a couple of decades, we lived well but there was not much time off or recreation for it's own sake. It is also constant because plants and animals don't take time off and therefore you can't either. It is a lifestyle in the truest sense, a total immersion thing. It's good life though, and it has given me a respect for nature that colours everything I do. Maybe it could be introduced in a scheme similar to the old Nasho service. A couple of years of caring for other living things, and only eating what you can coax to grow would utterly change our civilisation. Living like that really does occupy all your life if you do it properly, otherwise it is just like a lot of half-arsed hippie initiatives, all talk and broken promises. (I've seen a few of those, too)."

"By my reckoning you need closer to 5 acres of good land per person in temperate Australia. -- From what I've read it's approx 1 acre per person to be self sufficient, John Seymours' book said you could keep a family of 5-6 in meat, veg, grain, clothes, fuel, beer & cider on 5 acres including food for the livestock."

Projects in Germany

Find your way to one of the many eco villages in and around Germany (Kesselberg/Erkner south of Berlin, Karlshof near Potsdam, Ökodorf 7 Linden/Altmark, ...), or start a new one.

Hands on!
